826 Casual Sex
Summary:
Molyneux discounts the idea of casual sex as a biological necessity because masturbation costs far fewer resources and allows you to orgasm. He uses the persistent metaphor of casual sex as junk food; occasional use is OK, but habitual use, like any addiction, is a serious problem. 'Virtuous' casual sex, or casual sex that is less sleazy is quite rare, since women that partake in casual sex and other regular, risky behavior tend to have lower self-esteem. Sex is risky for women because of STDs, failed contraceptive methods, and obsessive or violent men, who tend to be bigger "pound for pound". Casual sex is different for women than it is for men. Women are more "physical vulnerable" during the act of sexual intercourse. Evolutionarily, women are more cautious about sex, because historically, birth control did not effectively exist.
